IN DRIFTING, drivers force their car to slide sideways through a turn. A simple drift has a car moving sideways through a single turn, but it can get much more complex.
At the pro level, drivers can drift through several opposing turns without their wheels ever gripping the road. The multiple, tight, S-type turn configurations allow drivers to display the most advanced drifting skills.
The activity, which originated from the street racers of Japan more than 15 years ago, is now a professional motorsport. Events are held globally, including in Japan, Australia, the United States, Canada, Malaysia, Britain and New Zealand.
- The Formula Drift ProAm Series will feature 28 drivers from Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
- It will be held on July 4-5 at the Plaza at Changi Exhibition Centre.
