2 killed in road accidents

TWO elderly men were killed in separate road accidents on Tuesday.

In the first road mishap, a man said to be between 60 and 70 years, was crossing a junction on Selegie Road when he was hit by a car driven by a man in his early 20s.

The pedestrian died on the spot at 6.20 am.

In the other accident, a 61-year-old cyclist was hit at the junction of Kampong Bahru and Jalan Bukit Merah at 7.25am, reported The Straits Times.

The Chinese national suffered serious head injuries and was taken to hospital where he died, said the local newspaper.

The driver who hit the cyclist was a man in his early 30s.
