Ferrari couple tailed from Johor

SEREMBAN, MALAYSIA - The Ferrari, with a couple inside, had collided with a car before a few men wearing caps with the Customs Department logo arrived in a Mercedes Benz and robbed them.

State Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaki Masroh said initial investigations suggested that the suspects had been tailing the couple from Johor.

"We are investigating if the accident was staged, and we have information that the victims were followed from Johor. But they might not realise it because the suspects were in a Mercedes Benz," Zaki said yesterday.

He said according to eyewitnesses, four men were involved in the robbery.

Onlookers were too stunned to help the victims as the men were thought to be Customs officers.

The suspects attacked the driver and broke the window of the Ferrari with a piece of wood.

Then the men ransacked the car and sped off in the Mercedes Benz.

Moments later, a convoy of Ferraris arrived at the scene and the couple left with them, leaving their car behind.

Zaki said the victims later lodged a police report at the Genting Highlands police station at 8pm.

It was understood that the victims lost about RM15,000 in valuables.
