New IU takes to the road today
Tue, Jun 30, 2009
The Straits Times, AsiaOne

SOON, the risk of being fined because you have driven through an Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) gantry with insufficient funds in your CashCard will be history.

From today, new cars will be fitted with a second-generation card reader.

The reader, or in-vehicle unit, gives drivers the option of using either a regular CashCard or the new ez-link transit card for ERP payments.

Car owners are not required to change their current IU to the dual-mode IU.

Nevertheless, motorists who wish to change to the new IU may do so at LTA Authorised Inspection Centres at a cost of $150 (before GST and inclusive of installation).

Motorists are advised to call the Centres beforehand to make an appointment
