Following the partying and celebrations of Mini's 50th birthday with a MINI United Festival at Silverstone, UK and our very own Singapore party organised by local dealer Trans Eurokars as well, we're getting two special edition Minis for the Singapore market - the Mini 50 Camden and the Mini 50 Mayfair - just in time for Christmas.
Named after two exclusive and hip boroughs of London, they're essentially two unique trim levels for Minis. Which means you can order the anniversary trims for either the 120bhp Mini or the 175bhp Mini Cooper S.
The two anniversary models abound with exclusive features. There's special bodywork paint, light-alloy rims tailored to the car, special materials and surfaces within the interior as well as exclusive colours specifically for the Mini Mayfair and the Mini Camden. And to pile on the exclusivity, they'll only be in production for a year.
The Mini Mayfair comes in dominating colours of chocolate metallic paintwork combined with a white roof, 17-inch white-painted light-alloy rims in Infinity Spoke design as well as bonnet stripes in light-brown Toffy metallic complete with a white edge at the border. The interior of the Mini Mayfair is similarly decorated in chocolate colours with white stripes.
The Mini Camden comes with 17-inch light-alloy exclusive rims, sporting silver stripe trim on the side shoulders of the bonnet lid and exterior mirror caps. Silver and white dominates the Mini Camden, as opposed to the chocolate and brown trims in the Mini Mayfair.
In addition to other anniversary features, the Mini Camden also features Mini's top-end Harmon Kardon audio system. And even those - like the high-performance digital amplifier - are tailored to the Mini.
The Mini Camden also mark the debut of Mini's new generation in-car entertainment (ICE) system.
Called the "Mission Control", Mini says the ICE system can process and evaluate a wide range of vehicle, driving and ambient signals to provide the driver with relevant information and instructions. The system will generate "situation-based dialogues", among others, to ask drivers to "buckle up their seat belts and use the air-conditioning".
