Caught over-selling fuel to foreigners

CHANGLUN: A petrol kiosk in Jalan Changlun-Sintok here was sealed for selling subsidised fuel to foreign vehicles above the permitted quota.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry raided the kiosk at 8.30am on Friday, led by special unit officers from Putrajaya.

At the raid, 21,390 litres of RON95 petrol and 15,624 litres of diesel, worth RM64,451 were also seized.

The department's Kubang Pasu district enforcement division chief Zulkifli Makhtar said: "Investigations revealed that the owner had failed to abide by the government's ruling on selling petrol to foreign vehicles, which is limited to 20 litres.

"One of the five pumps behind the building was used to cater to vehicles coming from Thailand.

"There were two cars with foreign-registered number plates at the premises when the raid was mounted. The drivers fled when they spotted the raiding party."

The owner, 61, had also failed to renew his business licence which expired last month.

The case would be investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961.
