Ferrari has decided to recall all models of the 458 Italia car manufactured this year after a number of reports on the cars catching fire surfaced.
According to a BBC report, Ferrari had flown its engineers around the world to investigate five reports of 'thermal incidents.'
More than 1,200 owners of the Italia 458 model will have to bring in their cars for modification as a result.
Reports of the car catching fire surfaced in California, Paris, Switzerland, China and another unnamed location, BBC said.
Ferrari told BBC that the problem had been traced to adhesive used in wheel-arch assemblies.
Under certain circumstances, the glue can overheat, smoke and even catch fire, a Ferrari spokesman told BBC.
The melting of the adhesive may also result in the heat shield to deform and shift closer to the exhaust, causing the lining to catch fire.
Owners who first reported the fires will receive a new model, Ferrari said.
The remaining models will be modified -- mechanical fasteners will replace the adhesive in question.
