COE prices on the rise

PREMIUMS for Certificates of Entitlement (COEs) have risen across the board at the end of September's first bidding.

The COE price for Cat A, used for small cars (1,600cc and below) and taxis, went up by the most.

It increased by 14.1 per cent to finish at $33,089.

In a similar vein, the COE price for Cat B, used for big cars (above 1,600cc), crept up by 3.1 per cent.

It ended at $44,129, which is the closest it has been this year to 2010's all-time high of $45,501.

Cat E's price also went up by 1.2 per cent to $44,001. Cat E certificates can be used for any vehicle but ends up mainly for cars.

Premiums for commercial vehicles and motorcycles closed at $33,000 and $1,502 respectively.
