Four new members appointed to Public Transport Council

16 members, four of which are new appointments, have been assigned to the Public Transport Council (PTC).

The council, appointed by the Minister for Transport, Mr Lui Tuck Yew, will be tasked with the responsibility of safeguarding commuters' interests while ensuring the long-term viability of public transport operators.

The members are drawn from a wide representation of society.

With their expertise, they will play an important role in regulating public transportation services such as bus services and their operators, ticket payment services, and bus and rapid transit system fares.

The four new members are Mr Abdullah Shafiie Bin Mohamed Sidik, Chairman of the Siglap South Community Club Management Committee and Joo Chiat Constituency Sports Club, Mr Richard Magnus, Chairman of Casino Regulatory Authority, Mdm Tan Seow Peer, lawyer at Lee Bon Leong & Co., and Mr Toh Hock Poh, President of Metal Industries Workers Union.

These members will step down at the end of their current term to make way for the new appointees: Mr P E Ashokan, Partner - Litigation, KhattarWong, Ms Gamar Abdul Aziz, Secretary, Tampines West Community Club Management Committee, Ms Ho Shiong Yee, Assistant General Secretary, United Workers of Petroleum Industry, and Mr Noel Hon Chia Chun, Chairman, e-Cop Pte Ltd.

The chairman of the council is Mr Gerard Ee Hock Kim, Chairman of the National Kidney Foundation.
