$3m grant for SMRT taxis to operate larger cabs

The Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports will award a $3.1-million grant to SMRT Taxis to operate 30 cabs that can accommodate larger and high-back motorised wheelchairs used by the disabled and the elderly.

The first batch of 15 wheelchair-accessible taxis is expected to be on the road by March next year, before the London Cabs are phased out.
