Selfish acts make rides unpleasant

I REFER to the letter, "Give me safe, no-frills bus rides" (my paper, Oct 29).

Unpleasant bus rides are caused by Singaporeans' lack of graciousness. Some inconsiderate acts include: Alighting at bus entrances, thus preventing passengers from boarding and causing a delay.

  • Crowding around exits of buses and trains.
  • Occupying only aisle seats.
  • Refusing to move to the rear and not queueing to board the bus.

In China, bus captains have the authority to switch off the engine if passengers refuse to take empty seats or move to the rear.
