I REFER to Mr Lee Kok Hiong's letter, "Some pay more with new fare structure" (my paper, Feb 23).
In his detailing of his journey fare, Mr Lee had mistaken the new transfer rebate to be 14 cents instead of 50 cents.
From April 1, the transfer rebate for all adult ez-link journeys will be 50 cents - an increase of 10 cents from the current 40 cents.
Together with an across-the-board 2-cent reduction per trip in all adult ez-link fares, commuters will enjoy a total saving of 14 cents, 26 cents and 38 cents for a journey involving one, two and three transfers, respectively.
There is no limit to the number of times a commuter can enjoy such savings in a day.
Using the same illustration, the table above shows the breakdown of fare savings that Mr Lee will enjoy on his journey from Buangkok Station to the bus stop before the Centre for Animal Welfare and Control of the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority.
For more details on fare reduction, Mr Leemay refer to the joint news release posted on our website at www.ptc.gov.sg We thank Mr Lee for the opportunity to clarify the matter.
