Brazen car thieves made off with car's rear tyres

An owner arrived at his car one morning only to find two rear wheels on his Mitsubishi Lancer EX missing.

The car was allegedly stripped of its rear wheels - and only its rear wheels - with a small jack and a brick which were left behind at the crime scene, Stomp reported. The incident occurred on Jan 19 near Block 299, Compassvale Street.

The incredulous owner thought the thieves might have struck in the early hours as there was a parking summons issued to a car a few lots away at about 2am.

The police was immediately informed and the car dusted for fingerprints.

Damage

The owner who went by the nickname Mexx, said that besides losing his rear wheels and rims, his car's side skirting was also damaged by the car jack and the brick (inset in picture above) that were supporting it.

And while he was waiting for a tow truck to arrive, the jack bent and the brick cracked under the weight of the car, so much so that the exhaust was already pressing onto the kerb.

The owner bemoaned: "It was really frustrating to see the car in such a state!"

Flashy rims?

Could the thieves have targeted the owner's car because he had flashy rims? The owner said no, Stomp reported.

He clarified that his two missing rear wheels were stock from Cycle & Carriage. His sports rims were Enkei SC08 and tyres were Yokohama Advan 460.

Subsequently the owner appealed to readers who have had similar experiences and stay in Block 299 Compassvale Street, to come forward.
