A SHOPPING outing across the Causeway turned violent for a Singaporean and her two Indonesian guests when they were robbed by a motorcyclist at a shopping mall carpark last Sunday.

Ticketing officer Jamiah Sirat, 58, and Indonesians Meilani Koesmadji, 43, and her mother Yvonne Koesmadji, 61, were walking towards their car after shopping at Jaya Jusco Permas near Pasir Gudang, when the robber struck.

He snatched Ms Meilani's handbag, and dragged her along for over 10 metres before speeding off.

She had scratches on her arms, stomach, and face, and received outpatient treatment at a JB hospital.

Said the assistant manager for a real estate company in Jakarta on Thursday: 'I was too shocked to feel anything. I only knew I was in trouble and wanted to go back home as soon as possible.'

She made a police report there. Besides her passport and identity cards, she also lost 5 million Rupiah, $350, eight credit cards, two mobile phones and a digital camera.

Her woes did not end there. As the Indonesian embassy in JB was closed over the New Year's holidays, she could only get her temporary passport on Wednesday.
