A WOMAN who stole two clients' mobile phones after offering them sex was jailed for five days and fined a total of S$4,000 on Wednesday.

Siti Rauda Naina Mohamed, 23, pleaded guilty to stealing a S$600 cellphone from a 26-year-old man and a S$480 phone from another man, aged 41, at two hotels in Geylang on Aug 17 and July 13 last year respectively.

The court heard that she checked into an unknown hotel with the 41-year-old man whom she approached along Lorong 16 Geylang on July 13.

In the hotel room, she suggested that he take a shower first as she needed to buy a condom. He found it strange as she had in fact brought along one. While he was taking his shower she made off with his phone.

As soon as she left, the victim came out of the shower and found his phone missing.

She got into a car driven by her husband. He gave chase together with his cousin along the Pan-Island Expressway.

Along the Adam Road exit, Siti's car was stopped at a roadblock and she admitted having thrown the phone along the expressway.

Later, on Aug 17 (07), she stole a 26-year-old's mobile phone while he was taking a shower in a hotel at Lorong 18. She sold it at a used mobile phone shop in Geylang Road.

Two charges of soliciting were taken into consideration.

The mother of two said in mitigation that she was living with a boyfriend and found out weeks ago that she was pregnant. Pleading for a light sentence, she said she was in the process of divorcing her husband, who is now in jail for drug-related offences.
