Tue, Jan 29, 2008
The Straits Times

A DRUG courier was caught with a stash of drugs, including 41.9g of heroin, which were hidden under the dashboard of his car.

Acting on a tip-off, Central Narcotics Bureau officers stopped the courier at Woodlands Checkpoint as he drove in.

During a body search, they found a packet of Ice, weighing one gram, in his front right coin pocket.

Initial seach on his Malaysian-registered car found nothing. But the CNB officers persevered and soon found another seven packets of drugs wrapped in black tape concealed on the underside of the front dashboard.

The drugs included the heroin, 30.7g of Ice and 55 Ecstasy tablets, and had a street value of about $22,000, said CNB in a statement on Tuesday.

The courier is being investigated for importation of controlled drugs.

If convicted, he faces at least five years jail and five strokes of the cane.
