JOHOR BARU, MALAYSIA - A 33-year-old Singaporean man was nabbed for suspected drug trafficking and using fake Singaporean identification.
Johor Police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the suspect was detained along with a 30-year-old woman at a house in Permas Jaya on Jan 24.
He added that police also seized 90 Eramin 5 pills, 18g of syabu and four ecstasy pills.
"The drugs seized were little but we believe the man is a drug trafficker, based on his background and past records."
"We are also working closely with our Singaporean counterparts to investigate the matter further," he said.
DCP Mohd Mokhtar said police also busted two drug trafficking syndicates and arrested more than 1,000 people for drug-related offences last month.
He added that police also raided 38 entertainment outlets and arrested 40 patrons for testing positive for drugs.
"Among the drugs seized were 1.2kg of heroin, 262g of ketamine and more than 3,000 Eramin 5 tablets."
"We also arrested seven drug traffickers in separate raids," he said, adding that most of those arrested have been charged in court.?
On another matter, DCP Mohd Mokhtar said the Commercial Crimes division also seized 17,345 pirated DVDs and arrested 92 suspects.
