Man charged with making bomb hoax call

A 31-YEAR-OLD man who allegedly said he was going to bomb a fighter plane was charged in court on Monday with transmitting a false message.

Deo Yuen Cern is said to have made the call at Yishun MRT Station to a police officer on Jan 19.

He was remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for psychiatric assessment.

He is due back in court on March 10.

If convicted under the Telecommunication Act, he faces a fine of up to $50,000 or a jail term of up to seven years or both.
