FOUR men and two women were charged on Tuesday with murdering part-time salesman Seah Boon Lye in Geylang Lorong 10 at about 6.30am on Saturday.
Two of the suspects, a boy and a girl, appeared in the Juvenile Court as both are under 16.
Earlier in a district court, Suhardi Ali, 28, Sufian Nordin, 22, Muhammad Haziq Mohamed, 19; and Nur Azimah Razale, 20, who were all handcuffed, had their charges read out to them.
They were ordered to be remanded at the Police Cantonment Complex for a week for further investigations.
When the men tried to talk to Azimah, the woman in their group, police officers quickly ordered them to stop. No family members of the suspects were in court.
Over at the Juvenile Court, the teens, also wearing handcuffs, were dealt separately. Under the law, they cannot be named as they are considered underage.
An aunt told Magistrate Wong Li Tein that the girl's divorced parents are 'uncontactable' and that she is being cared for by her maternal grandmother.
The boy, whose parents are attending a relative's funeral in Johor, had an uncle in court.
The boy will be remanded at the Singapore Boys' Home while the girl will be at the Girls' Home until their next court appearance on Monday.
Although the penalty for murder is death, the Criminal Procedure Code here states that no one under the age of 18 at the time of the offence can be hanged.
Instead, the offender is detained at the President's pleasure, which means he will remain locked up until the President grants him clemency.
