A MAN who made a 14-year-old girl pregnant after having sex with her was jailed for three months on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old man pleaded guilty to having sex with the underage girl at his flat in February 2006.

The court heard that the victim came to know the accused in Chai Chee in April 2005. They became a couple later.

Sometime in February 2006, she went to his home and had consensual sex with him.

Six months later, she again had sex with him but this charge was taken into consideration during sentencing.

On Oct 8 that year, she found out she was pregnant and told the accused and her father.

She had the baby aborted.

In November, her father called the police and said his daughter had not returned home and was staying with the accused. He also told them the man had had sex with his daughter.

Pleading for a lenient sentence, the man told District Judge F.G. Remedios that he intended to marry the girl.

He could have been jailed for up to five years and fined up to $10,000 for having sex with an underage girl.
