The Straits Times

A PEEPING Tom who trespassed into a polytechinic's female toilet was jailed for four weeks on Wednesday.

Engineer Heng Joo Meng, 27, admitted entering Republic Polytechnic at Woodlands Avenue 9 and remaining unlawfully at the female toilet on Jan 14.

A magistrate's court heard that a 19-year-old student was changing in the female toilet when she heard noises. On looking up, she saw Heng who fled.

A closed-circuit television camera installed near the sports stadium showed Heng entering and running out of the female toilet.

He told the police he had intentionally entered the toilet to get 'a sense of thrill'. The victim made a police report. A second charge of peeping at the victim with intent to insult her modesty was taken into consideration. Heng, who was suffering from work and marital stress, has two similar convictions.

He could have been jailed for up to three months or fined up to $500, or both, for criminal trespass.
