POLICE have arrested a jobless man who is believed to be involved in an armed robbery in Mugliston Drive on Monday.

The 25-year-old Chinese man and another suspect broke into a house in Mugliston Drive at about 3.20 am, and tied up two occupants with adhesive tape. They escaped with cash, jewellery and other personal belongings worth some $4,000.

Police searched the crime scene and uncovered some evidence which led to the identity of the suspects.

On Thursday at about 7.15pm, the first suspect was arrested in the vicinity of Block 6, Beach Road. Part of the loot was recovered from him.

A warrant of arrest has been issued against the second suspect.

The first suspect is expected to be charged in court on Saturday for armed robbery, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and 24 strokes of the cane, on conviction.
