SHE was last seen leaving an exclusive London club at 3am, last Friday.
Friends assumed that she and her male friend were headed for another party.
But when Norwegian student Martine Vik Magnussen, 23, failed to come home on Friday morning, her friends contacted the police.
They also launched an appeal on the popular social networking website - Facebook - for any leads about her disappearance, reported the Daily Mail.
But the appeal was taken off the website when Ms Magnussen's body was found buried under rubble in the basement of a luxury apartment block.
Detectives are aiming their suspicion at the man - said to be 'Arabic' in appearance - who accompanied Ms Magnussen into a taxi as she left the exclusive Maddox club.
The man was listed on Ms Magnussen's Facebook profile as a friend. After she disappeared, his profile was no longer available on the website.
Police suspect that he allegedly erased his Facebook profile and fled to the Middle East.
Forensic officers are also investigating the basement and surroundings of Seaford Court in London's Great Portland Stree, where
Ms Magnussen's body was found.
The building lies approximately 1.6km from the Maddox nightclub, where
Ms Magnussen was last seen.
Residents of the Seaford Court block said that three young Middle Eastern students lived there, including one thought to be the key suspect.
SCRUTINY
Authorities are also scrutinising CCTV footage of the Maddox club in Mayfair, London.
The Norwegian media has dubbed the case the Facebook Murder. Details of exactly how Ms Magnussen died are not clear yet. She was studying business at the elite, private Regent's College.
Detective Chief Inspector Jessica Wadsworth, who is leading the investigation, said: 'We would like to speak to a number of people in relation to her death, including a man of Arabic appearance who was among her group of friends on Thursday night and who she may have left the club with and in the early hours of Friday.'
