KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - A modelling job turned into a nightmare for a 17-year-old girl, leaving her distraught and worried.

The school-leaver, who only wants to be known as Josephine, said she received a phone call from a man called Thomas offering her a modelling job on March 2.

After attending a photo shoot on March 10 and 11, she was offered another job, this time at Genting Highlands.

According to Josephine, she was taken to a hotel room and given some wine to drink which made her dizzy and caused her to vomit.

"After vomiting, I ate some candies from them and became unconscious," she said.

When Josephine regained consciousness, she realised her clothes had been changed and she was sitting in a taxi.

She was also unable to contact Thomas.

Josephine lodged a report at Setapak police station and sought help from MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Michael Chong.

She also went for a medical check-up which revealed that she was not raped.

"I am afraid they might have taken pictures of me in the nude when I was unconscious," she said.

Chong urged all girls to be more careful with modelling offers from unknown people and even advertisements in newspapers.

Those involved in similar cases are advised to contact Chong or Fennie Song at 03-21618044.

Meanwhile Resorts World public relations and communications senior vice-president Datuk Anthony Yeo said the company would cooperate fully with the police.

"The public is advised to check with Genting before participating in such photo shoots to avoid any untoward incident," said Yeo.

Molested while asleep in hotel, claims model

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - When a 17-year-old freelance model responded to an offer to model in Genting Highlands, the last thing she expected was to be molested.

After modelling several sets of clothes, the model, who identified herself as Josephine, found herself falling asleep and waking up several times.

When she finally awoke outside her house in Setapak here, she was in the clothes she had worn when she had gone up to the highland resort.

"I was definitely not wearing my own clothes when I was last aware of my surroundings before that," Josephine said at a press conference yesterday.

Josephine is worried that compromising photographs may have been taken of her.

Besides lodging a police report, Josephine also underwent a medical examination.

While it was confirmed that she was not raped, doctors said there were signs she was molested.

Recollecting events leading to her molest, Josephine said she did some modelling work for a man called Thomas on March 10 and 11 at the Kuala Lumpur City Centre.

She was then offered another modelling job in Genting Highlands on March 13.

She met a couple, John and Jessica, there before being introduced to a David, who claimed to be an image director.

Josephine said she was taken to a hotel room and told to model in different clothes for the photography session.

She was also given two alcoholic drinks "to relax her".

When she complained of being dizzy after taking the drinks, she was given some sweets.

Josephine said she fell unconscious after taking the sweets.

When she awoke several hours later, she found herself inside a taxi, and asked to be taken to her home in Setapak.

Again, she fell asleep and when she awoke, she was outside her home.

After asking her mother to pay the taxi driver, she went back to sleep.

The next morning, she discovered that she was wearing her own clothes.

She claimed that she had been wearing the clothes provided for the shoot when she became unconscious.

She approached the MCA Public Services and Complaints Department for assistance to highlight her plight.

"I appeal to the taxi driver to come forward and assist police in their investigations," department head Datuk Michael Chong said.

Meanwhile, Resorts World Bhd vice-president of public relations and communications Datuk Anthony Yeo said the company would give its full co-operation to the police. -NST
