AN UNEMPLOYED man was out on bail for a rioting offence when he allegedly committed another offence of slashing a man with a parang.

Muhammad Farouq Mohamed Allaadin Ebrahim Elsayd, 20, was charged with causing grievous hurt to Mr Azlan Mohamed Ramlee, 23, outside the Ministry of Sound (Mos) nightclub at Clarke Quay at around 4am on March 16.

The charge states that he slashed the victim on the right side of the face, causing a 15cm-long cut on his face.

Earlier last month, he was charged, together with Muhammad Shahrul Samzaman, 17, unemployed, and four others, of rioting at E Bar at International Building in Orchard Road on Feb 3. He was released on $10,000 bail.

The group is alleged to have slashed Mr Muhammad Aidil Kasiim, 18, with parangs while they were members of an unlawful assembly.

Farouq was released on $10,000 bail.

A pre-trial conference for the two cases, held at the Community Court on Thursday, was fixed for another pre-trial hearing on April 24.
