Five teens charged with robbery

FIVE teens aged between 13 and 16 were charged on Friday with robbing cabbies.

Four of them were accused of robbery with hurt while a 15-year-old boy was charged with attempted robbery with hurt.

Shashe Raj Kanagaalingam, 16, is said have robbed Mr Tan Cheng Huat, 49, of $100 and choked him at a carpark at Jalan Bukit Merah on Jan 20. The crime was allegedly committed with Mohamed Harees Abdul Halim.

Harees and Shantabai Paramsivani, both 16, as well as a 13-year-old girl, are alleged to have robbed Mr Sow Kia Keng, 61, of $200 at the carpark at Jalan Bukit Merah on Feb 26.

The trio allegedly grabbed and choked the victim's neck during the hold-up.

The 15-year-old juvenile is accused of attempted robbery with hurt against Mr Lye Se Chek, 62, near Kampong Bahru Road on March 2. He is said to have committed the offence with Harees, the 13-year-old girl and Shantabai.

All were remanded for further investigation. The older teens will appear in court again on April 4 while the juveniles' cases will be mentioned on April 3.
