Year's jail cut to 2 months for sales executive
Thu, Apr 10, 2008
The Straits Times

INSTEAD of being jailed for a year, a sales executive will now serve two months behind bars for stealing a credit card and using it to buy $227 worth of clothes last December.

Ong Xiao Li, 26, had her sentence reduced on appeal on Thursday.

In slashing the original jail term, Chief Justice Chan Sek Keong said the credit card charges were relatively small and Ong had no previous convictions.

Ong had pleaded guilty on Dec 26 to stealing the credit card from a locker while she was attending a yoga class at the Pacific Plaza on Scotts Road.

She said she opened another locker accidentally but within minutes, she had used the stolen credit card at the Adidas shop downstairs.
