Man charged with murder of odd-job worker

A MAN was charged in court on Thursday with the murder of a 72-year-old odd-job worker.

Teo Soon Seng, 46, is alleged to have killed Koh Ah Lee, also known as Mr Koh Ah Gee, between 10.30pm on July 11 and 1am the next day in the Bamboo Lounge in Sims Avenue.

Teo was arrested at the Boat Quay area at about 12.30pm on Wednesday.

He was remanded for further investigations, and will appear in court again next Wednesday.

Police said that they found Mr Koh unconscious in the lounge after they responded to a 999 call at 12.30am.

Investigations revealed that he had been assaulted and he died four hours later in Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

If convicted of muder, Teo faces the mandatory death sentence.
