Eyewitness backtracks on statement in murder trial

THE bus driver, who identified a man leaving a block of flats soon after a woman fell from the 13th floor in July last year, told police seven months later that he could not see the man clearly.

Mr Goh Chin Hock was taken to task for this in court on Tuesday by lawyer Aziz Tayabali, who is defending odd-job worker Tharema Vejayan Govindasamy, 39, accused of murdering his wife Smaelmeeral Abdul Aziz, 32, on July 1 last year.

The other defence lawyer is Mr S Radakrishnan.Smaelmeeral's body was found at the bottom of Block 181 Stirling Road at 4.40am.
