AN ODD-JOB labourer was charged in court on Wednesday with receiving bribes in return for acting as the scapegoat for a chain of internet gambling cafes.
Ong Teck Kim, 47, is said to have corruptly received a total of $8,200 from Chua Chin Hoe last year to register 12 internet cafes and to take the blame on Chua's behalf for operating them as common gaming houses.
He is also alleged to have agreed to receive $5,000 from Chua, the alleged syndicate gaming operator, earlier in February or March by helping him register the 12 internet cafes.
