KUALA LUMPUR: A Dutch aircraft maintenance engineer was found dead in the bathtub in a five-star hotel here.
Kooijman Adriaan Hans Hendrich, 68, was found dead, naked in the foetal position in his room on the 31st floor of the hotel in Jalan Tun Razak with the bathtub tap still running.
A hotel worker and his supervisor were forced to open Kooijman's door at 11am after several attempts to contact him failed.
Earlier, the hotel worker received complaints from other occupants of an unbearable stench coming from the engineer's room.
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Zakaria Pagan said Kooijman did not suffer body injuries and police believe that he was not robbed.
He said Kooijman could have been dead for at least 48 hours.
According to the hotel worker, the engineer from Amsterdam had placed a ?do not disturb? sign on the door.
"We found him with a minor cut on his lips and there was no forced entry into the room, which was not ransacked.
"We will wait for the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause of death," ACP Zakaria said, adding that police also found blood pressure medication belonging to the engineer.
Kooijman entered the country on Sept 4 and was due to leave on Thursday.
