JOHOR BARU: The charred remains of a murder victim was discovered in a burnt car in Kampung Plentong Baru yesterday.

The remains, burnt beyond recognition, was found inside a Proton car, about 20m from a Hindu temple.

Johor Baru (South) OCPD Asst Comm Zainuddin Yaacob said that police received a call at 2.30pm yesterday from people who made the gruesome discovery while looking for scrap metal.

"According to our investigations, the car was not there on Wednesday evening.

"The fire may have occurred later that night," he said.

ACP Zainuddin said that it was possible that the victim could have been killed elsewhere and his body set on fire in Kampung Plentong Baru.

"We have not identified the victim yet," he said, adding that no documentation or identification was found on the victim.

He urged those with information to contact the police hotline at 07-2212 999 or the nearest police station.
