PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA: A wiring contractor who tried to steal 10 cartons of cigarettes, which were Customs exhibits, was caught when the bag he stuffed them in gave him away.

The incident happened at the storeroom for exhibits at the head office of the Royal Malaysian Customs in Kelana Jaya on Friday.

The 23-year-old contractor was at the storeroom to fix closed-circuit television cameras with two other workers.

He had earlier brought in a small tool bag and as he left the room, a Customs officer who had been supervising the work noticed that the bag looked like there was something stuffed in it.

The officer checked the bag and found the cigarettes. The man was handed to the police.
