TEMERLOH, Malaysia: A 30-year-old man had his right leg chopped off in an attack at a restaurant in Taman Rimba, Mentakab on Saturday.

The victim and a couple were having a meal when five men arrived in a Toyota Harrier about 3am on Saturday.

The five men, armed with parang, approached the three and one of them swung his parang at one of them, but missed.

State Crime Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner T. Narenasagaran said the rest of the group moved in and began to attack the victim.

"One of the suspects then swung his parang cutting off the victim's the right leg. He fell on the ground with blood oozing from the leg.

"Upon seeing this, the five suspects fled the scene in their vehicle."

The victim was sent to Mentakab Hospital for an operation to re-attach the leg. -NST
