TWO brothers were sentenced to hang for murder on Tuesday, capping a long-running trial that was heard for nearly 100 days spanning three years, marked by many twists and turns.

The High Court found both Ismil Kadar, 40, and Muhamad Kadar, 33, guilty of killing Madam Tham Weng Kuen at her Boon Lay flat on May 6, 2005, while they were trying to rob her. Madam Tham died from more than 110 stab wounds.

According to their statements to the police, Ismil was the one who stabbed Madam Tham while his younger brother looked on.
