A WOMAN who fell asleep in the living room while waiting for her husband to return from work, was shocked to discover an intruder lying beside her.

She only realised that the man was not her husband when she saw a knife in his hand.

Harian Metro reported that the woman - a clerk in her 30s - wanted to scream but the intruder cupped her mouth and threatened to harm her.

Her two children, who were awakened by the noise at about 2.45am on Wednesday, started screaming. This prompted the man to run away from the Sri Tioman flats in Kuala Lumpur.

A source quoted in the news report said the woman had initially attempted to chat with the man because she thought he was her husband.

"But the man merely kept quiet. So she sensed something was not right and was shocked when she saw the knife," the source said.

A report was lodged at the Wangsa Maju police station. However, nothing was stolen from her home.
