GEORGETOWN: A labourer was sentenced to 20 years jail for causing death to his four-month-old daughter by throwing the infant on a mattress.

The Penang Sessions Court also sentenced Mohamad Nasir Sulaiman, 34, to another four years jail for abusing the baby. Both sentences are to run concurrently.

His daughter, Nurul Ain Amirah, died in their home in Kampung Masjid, Sungai Ara, Bayan Lepas, at 9pm on March 7. She died due to cerebral membrane bleeding.

Mohamad Nasir was also charged with child abuse for swinging Nurul Ain around by her feet.
