KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - An elderly man was found beaten to death on a sidewalk in what is believed to be a robbery-cum-murder near Jalan Pudu.

The 76-year-old victim identified as So Jin Fat was found covered in blood by passers-by around 7am on Saturday. According to residents, the victim, who was reportedly homeless, was known to sleep on the sidewalk every night.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman said the victim had suffered severe blunt force trauma to the back of the head.

"The victim's wallet was missing but police were able to identify him by his passport which we found in his pocket," he said.

Also found at the scene were two bloodied pieces of wood believed to be the murder weapon.
