Woman charged with murder of young daughter
Wed, Feb 17, 2010

LONDON, Feb 17 - A woman has been charged with the murder of her three-year-old daughter whose body was found at a house in Birmingham on Saturday, police said.

Iman Omar Yousef, 24, was charged on Tuesday night with killing Alia Ahmed Jama.

Police say they discovered a hazardous substance at the scene that may have been used in the killing but have not named it.

Newspapers have speculated it might be acid.

A forensic post mortem proved inconclusive.

More toxicology and forensic tests are being carried out to see if the chemical caused or contributed to the child's death.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said Yousef would appear before magistrates in Sutton Coldfield later on Wednesday.
