M'sian woman beaten up and robbed

JOHOR BARU, Malaysia - A 50-year-old woman reported missing a couple of days ago was found in Nusa Bestari here after she was allegedly robbed and brutally beaten by a group of four abductors.

Yuen Mei Kien, 50, who was shaken by the harrowing experience, said she was ambushed by two men at a shopping complex carpark in Bukit Indah here at around 6am on March 17.

"I usually park my car at the shopping complex and carpool with a friend to our workplace in Singapore.

"Just as I was exiting my car, two men in their 30s got into the vehicle and started assaulting me," Yuen said at her home in Skudai Baru.

She alleged that the men then took her to a house where two more men were waiting.

"They placed me in a dark room and took all my money.

"They even threatened to rape me unless I gave them my ATM personal identification numbers," she claimed, adding that she lost about RM13,000 in the incident.

Yuen claimed the men also demanded an additional RM5,000 but later changed their minds when she said she would have to contact her family members first.

"At one point, I thought they had left the house and I tried to escape, but a woman who was in the house quickly alerted the men," she alleged, adding that the men hit her head and punched her repeatedly.

She claimed the group eventually told her they were actually after another man who was driving a MyVi but she happened to be there at the wrong time.

"After realising they could not get anymore money out of me, they decided to release me at around 2.30am yesterday," she alleged, adding that she was left at a residential area in Nusa Bestari.

Gelang Patah MCA deputy division chief Tan Ba Ba, who held a press conference at Yuen's house, urged motorists to take precautions when going about their daily routine.

Nusajaya Deputy OCPD Supt Razak Said has asked witnesses or those with information to call the nearest police station or the Johor police hotline at 07-2212999.\
