PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA: There are no immediate plans to replace Manny, the anti-piracy sniffer dog, which died about three weeks ago. His partner Paddy will have to work alone helping enforcement officials sniff out stashes of pirated DVDs.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry director-general of enforcement Roslan Mahayuddin said the ministry would assess Paddy's abilities before deciding whether to get a second dog.

Roslan also said he did not know the cause of Manny's death as the post-mortem results would be given to the police.

"Although Manny belongs to us, he was being kept in Sepang by the police canine unit when he died. The police sent the body to Universiti Putra Malaysia for the post-mortem, so it is they who will be given the results. I haven't heard from them yet," Roslan said.
