PETALING JAYA: Parents of the bus driver who was involved in an accident which killed 10 passengers have asked for forgiveness from families of the victims.

Mohd Rashid Kassim, 65, apologised on behalf of his 37-year-old son Mohd Kamil, who was driving the Sani Express bus that was involved in the fatal accident along the North-South Highway near Ipoh on Dec 26.

Mohd Rashid, quoted in Sinar Harian, said he "sincerely and humbly" pleaded for forgiveness on behalf of his son.

"Nobody wants such an incident to occur," he said at his home in Pendang, Kedah.

Mohd Rashid said his son was unable to openly express regret as he was still being detained.

"I hope they can forgive my son," he said.
