Husbands forgetting to buy food requested by their wives are one of the 200 excuses given as the main cause for Muslim couples to divorce in this country, Mingguan Malaysia reported.

Islamic Development Department assistant director of family and social division Zawiah Hassan said the other excuses were wives being late in preparing their food, getting home late and lack of communication.

"Some 35% of the cases involved couples who were married less than five years.

"This phenomenon is very worrying because it has shown that these couples have a low level of patience," Zawiah said.
