KUALA LUMPUR: A couple fed rat poison to their two-year-old son before taking their own lives by jumping off the 29th floor of their luxury condominium at Brickfields.
The bodies of 34-year-old Manish Dinesh Wadhwani and his 29-year-old wife Niveditaa, were found sprawled on the ground floor of the condominium by a security guard around 7.30am yesterday.
The couple were both Indian nationals. The body of the son, Yoghansh, was found in the master bedroom of the family's 14th floor apartment.
Found beside the child were a bottle of panadol, some rat poison and a knife smeared with blood.
Police believe that Dinesh, a financial consultant for a private firm, had tried to commit suicide by cutting his wrists but decided to jump instead.
It is also believed that the couple had waited until the poison took effect on Yoghansh before taking the lift to the 29th floor from where they jumped.
The family, from Mumbai, had been in the country for less than two months.
City CID chief Senior Asst Comm (II) Datuk Ku Chin Wah said the incident took place between midnight and 4am yesterday.
'We are not able to comment further as the matter is still under investigation,' he said.
It is believed that Dinesh could have been suffering from a terminal illness.
