A 38-YEAR-OLD man who was allegedly bashed up by three men at a void deck in Woodlands earlier this week is in a critical condition.

On Friday, technician Sathesh Kumar Supramaniam, 21, was charged with causing grievous hurt to Mr Subramaniam Govindasamy, unemployed, with Gunalan Govindarajoo and Haridass Mohan at Woodlands Circle on Tuesday.

They are said to have used an umbrella but police believe that other possible weapons might have been used in the alleged assault.

The other two are expected to be charged in court on Saturday.

Seeking Sathesh's remand, Inspector Leow Teck Wee told District Judge Danielle Yeow that police needed to do an identification parade as two co-accused were involved.

Police also want to reconstruct the scene and recover exhibits including other possible weapons used.

The police prosecutor said the victim has not regained consciousness since he was in intensive care.

He added that Sathesh might also be involved in a rioting case.

Sathesh was remanded at Jurong police division until Nov 9.

If convicted of causing grievous hurt, he faces a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine, or caning.
