Tiong Bahru molest drama

SHE was targeted the moment she stepped out of the car at a carpark near Tiong Bahru food centre.

At about 5pm on Wednesday, a middle-aged man on a bicycle approached her and kept cycling in circles around her.

Fearful, the woman broke down in tears and started shouting "molest".

Stunned by her outburst, the man fled on his bicycle towards Block 19 at Lim Liak Street, across the food centre.

The woman's cries drew the attention of several male passers-by, who gave chase, reported Shin Min Daily News.

His bicycle was found abandoned near Block 19 but later two passers-by recognised him near the block.

Together, they managed to subdue the man and handed him to the police.

The alleged victim was a 20-year-old woman, who was going to the food centre for dinner with her parents and boyfriend.

It is not known where her parents and boyfriend were at the time she was approached by the suspect.

A witness said the man did not touch the woman directly, but she was so traumatised by his behaviour that she cried out.

Another witness said: "I also saw a middle-aged man lying on the grass patch being overpowered by two men.

"One of them was holding the suspect's arms behind his back and the other was pressing on his legs."

A young man, who appeared to be the alleged victim's boyfriend, reportedly used a piece of raffia string to tie the suspect's limbs.

The suspect was heard pleading in Hokkien "let me go" until the police arrived and handcuffed him.

Police confirmed that a man has been arrested.
