Woman dies after she was knocked down by car

A WOMAN in her mid-60s was crossing a road along Jurong West Avenue 1 when she was knocked down by a car on Wednesday evening.

The car, driven by a man in his mid-30s, was heading towards Corporation Road when the accident happened.

At that time, the pedestrian, identified as Madam Wang Heng Jee, was crossing the road from the driver's right to the left.

The driver tried to swerve to avoid hitting her, but was unable to do so.

Madam Wang was taken to the National University Hospital and was pronounced dead at about 8.30pm.
