The man said he discovered a suspicious SMS sent to his wife from the singer in June last year, when their marriage was going through a rough patch.

The SMS reportedly mentioned someone's lingering scent.

When the man confronted his wife over the SMS, it led to a big fight and the wife asked for a separation.

However, unwilling to give up on his marriage, the man called up the singer last year to meet at a multi-storey carpark in Queensway to discuss matters.

The singer turned up with a female fan while the lecturer was there with two relatives. The meeting ended on a bad note when both sides started arguing.

The New Paper is unable to reveal the identity of the singer, due to legal reasons.

Singers A-do, JJ Lin, Hong Junyang and Huang Yida said they were not involved when asked by Shin Min Daily News.

The discussion has even heated up Malaysian forum JBTalks, which had about 200 posts on this. Some forum users even posted scanned copies of the Singapore newspaper reports.

In a reply to Lianhe Wanbao, the singer was adamant that he had done no wrong.

He said: 'I'm a cheeky person. After I get to know my fans better, I tend to use sweet nothings in my messages, like 'I love you' and 'I miss you'.

'But my fans all know it's a joke.'

DENIES BEING ALONE WITH FAN

Though the singer has denied ever going out alone with the married female fan, her husband claims that he has seen the two of them sharing a taxi.

The man has also carried on with his allegations, claiming to have 'more evidence' against the singer.

He reportedly sent an e-mail to at least 10 of the singer's fans, urging them to boycott their idol. He also wrote in the e-mail: 'I will provide more proof until he admits.'

He even dared the singer to swear his innocence at a place of worship.

The man told Lianhe Wanbao he had initially hoped the singer could help him patch up his marriage.

But now, 'by coming out with the truth about the singer and my wife, I hope to settle this once and for all, and put a stop to this failed marriage'.

The singer has since changed his handphone number, said a friend.

According to the friend, the singer is not yet ready to come forth to clear things up. He described the singer's mood as 'agitated' these few days but calm otherwise, as 'his conscience is clear'.

The friend said: 'Both parties (the singer and his female fan) are innocent. Please don't judge them yet.'
