ABOUT 20 student librarians from Raffles Institution added some colour to the premises of the Handicapped Welfare Association in Whampoa on Thursday.

They spent three hours there painting a mural featuring hearts, hands and clovers.

The librarians were part of a 2,000-strong RI contingent which fanned out to different corners of the island to bowl, play games or just interact with residents of various welfare groups.

The activities were part of RI's Community Day, held to mark its 185th anniversary.

Students from different activity clubs took part in different community service projects under the guidance of its Interact Club.

The interact club president Lim Zong Yi, 16, said: 'We hope that the groups will take follow-up action and adopt the Voluntary Welfare Organisation. Maybe every holiday they can go to help spice up the place.'
