'Two men took me to KL'

THREE weeks ago, Singaporean student Nur Azlina Abdul Hamid, 17, walked out of her brother's home in Johor to buy a prepaid phone card.

She hasn't returned since.

A week after she disappeared, a family friend received a mysterious SMS: 'Two men took me to KL.'

Azlina was staying with her brother, who lives in Taman Scientex, Masai, near Johor Baru.

The girl, who lives with an older sister in Jurong, often visits her brother in Johor for a few days during her school holidays.

On 28 Feb evening, she left the house, saying she wanted to buy a prepaid card for her handphone from a shop nearby.

Her sister-in-law, Madam Suning Indrawati, 35, told Harian Metro: 'We realised she was missing when she didn't return home after several hours.

'We combed the surrounding area and called her friends in Masai and Pasir Gudang. But none of them had information on her whereabouts.'

At first, the family wasn't too worried about the girl.

Then a friend of Azlina's sibling said he received an SMS from her on 4 Mar saying that the teenager was in Kuala Lumpur.

WORRIED FAMILY

Madam Suning said: 'We don't know what happened to Azlina. When she disappeared, she didn't have her passport with her or extra clothing.

'In fact, she only had RM40 ($17) and, as far as we know, she had no special boyfriend.'

Azlina's failure to return has affected the health of her mother, Madam Salmiah Mat, 55, said Madam Suning.

The older woman is worried for her seventh child's future as the girl has missed two weeks of school.

Madam Suning said Azlina was wearing a yellow T-shirt and a pair of long black pants when she left the house on 28 Feb.

The family reported her disappearance to the Scientex police station on 1 Mar.
